Other factors to stop me running this was breaking my tibia plateau last July. It has been a long road to recovery and at times I thought was impossible. After 6 months I attempted a steady run down the canal near my house, one I've ran hundreds of times and I was in so much pain. I ran at 11 min/mile pace and felt worse than when I finished the marathon, I couldn't breathe, my legs ached and I had put about 2 stone in weight on!
I persevered though and built my stamina back up, joining Tickhill for runs and entering races where I could. I wasn't improving much but after a long overdue appt to see Coach Tune I had a lactate test, changed my diet and in short lost 2.5 stone and went into Worksop Half and smashed it. Big time! I ran 1:35:55 which was a 9 min pb. I pb'd at Cusworth 10km about 2 weeks before as well! Life was good but after a change in jobs and working on a building site I was only running once or twice a week. Now the job situation is back to normal I rebooked for a lactate test to get ready for my 2nd marathon journey!
So here we are. 3rd Jan 2016. I have one week of training to do and get used to my new heart rate zones. I then go to America for 2 weeks. Once I'm back the 16 week training programme begins! I will document and blog on a weekly / bi-weekly basis on how I am getting on and hopefully put right the wrongs of last time. Stay injury free and blow the Bexhill Marathon out of the water. 133 days to go!!!
