....well as you can see by the picture (and my last 5 runs) that my heart rate monitor has decided to pack up. It's not a huge problem as i will be getting it replaced but until I get my new one I will struggle as the main bulk of my training. No in fact ALL of my training is done against my heart rate. And when my heart rate is showing 235 bpm when I am running a 10 min mile something is clearly wrong!! I've done everything Garmin has told me but it's still not working so hopefully they can replace this one ASAP so I can carry on.
When I went for my long run yesterday I decided to go on pace not heart rate so I kept to a steady 9 min/ mile pace. As on race day I'll be keeping to an 8 mile mile pace (hopefully) so I wanted to see how easy that was. If you look at my other photo you'll see I did a pretty good job!!
The only snag was Mapped out the run on mapmyrun but I really should have checked the route in the car first as between Wadworth and Tickhill there was no path. Which is fine but when a car came I jumped into the side of the road but must have hit a lump and I fell into the grass verge ! This could easily have been the other way so I decided to walk until I found a pavement. I struggled for the last 2 miles back as I'd frozen and stiffened up but managed to haul myself over the finish line! 17 miler. Done.
As I write this I'm just about to go out for a 6 mile recovery run, legs are feeling veeeeeery sore! Wish me luck!!
